Every band wants screaming, adoring fans, but you can have too much of a good thing — just ask One Direction.

According to The Daily Mirror, singer Louis Tomlinson is starting to go deaf in his right ear thanks to the sheer volume of shrieking fans the band encounters.

"I am going slightly deaf in my right ear. It's tinnitus ... something like that," Louis told the tabloid.

Now, Louis and his bandmates Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Harry Styles have been told that they must wear protective earpieces while performing.

"Screams during gigs have started affecting the boys on stage," one source said. "They are only young and still developing, so management insist they wear hi-tech earpieces and filters to reduce the volume of the screaming and the music."

And it isn't management's only demand, with the boys also under strict orders to drink vitamin-filled vegetable drinks. Apparently, the thick stage make-up they have to wear on tour is making them break out.

One source told FitPerez that the boys are "already sick of their health drinks but they know they have to have them".
